Every so often an album comes along which makes the job of Cross Rhythms reviewer a complete and utter pleasure. This is an example of such an album. OHD, as they like to be known, make class pop/rock in a style somewhere between the still lamented Pray For Rain and All Star United, with just a hint now and then of '60s influences such as the Beatles. Wherever your CD player's random function falls, you're sure of a warm welcome, whether it be the rock crunch of "You", the summer groove of "Always A Reason", the jangly acoustic hop of "Take It Slow" or the psychedelic-tinged "Purple Shades". Watch out particularly for the spoof stage announcement and screaming fans that herald "Like No Other", the hilarious yet serious "It's Carpet Time" which observes the phenomenon of being slain in the spirit thus, "They're all falling down/If I want to get to heaven I'd better pass out." Make sure too that you check out the hidden track, containing already the best guitar solo and vocal performance of the year. Quite brilliant. This Canadian band should definitely be investigated.
