Gloucestershire-based husband and wife team Kevin Washburn and Penny Lyon - under the stage name Out Of The Ashes - have previously ploughed their own furrow in terms of offering something a bit different from the Christian music norm and this, their third album, is no exception. Once again produced by the talented Andy Baker, there is a delightfully bluesy feel to proceedings with the likes of the title track and the album highlight "Tipped Off The Table" - the latter featuring a great cameo from harmonica maestro Paul Jones - both referencing the hope found in Christ amidst the struggles of life. Baker, Washburn and Lyon have certainly gone for a bigger sound this time around with brass sections and appearances from the Deacon Gospel Choir complementing a great vocal performance from Lyon and some delicious guitarwork from her hubby whilst the solid bass work of Josh Cana (The Gentlemen, Human League) underpins the whole thing. As if to showcase their versatility, the couple also include a Christmas number ("The Tired Donkey Song"), a jaunty calypso ("Polé Polé) and some cod Johnny Cash ("I'll Go Where You Go") to round off yet another hugely enjoyable release.
