Formed in 2013, this Oklahoma-based trio have released two previous albums. This, their first outing for Raven Faith Records, sits right on the edge of hard rock with the odd excursion into the world of metal. On first play you are immediately aware of this group's rhythmical sense as choppy riffs underpinned by some solid bass lines create an expansive rock sound. Influences of the likes of Nickleback and Decyfer Down can be heard, particularly with the throaty vocal delivery of Preston Bell. After a pleasing curtain-opener, "Walking In The Dark" ramps up the energy levels with a grunge-driven anthem, nuanced by minor phrases that call on God for guidance. The title track is fashioned around a chugging guitar groove which is on point throughout. There are lighter shades amongst the more traditional rock on offer with the acoustic ballad "Surrender" featuring strings and a more open mix. Throughout the recording the guitars and vocals sit well against each other to provide a meaty classic rock sound. The only weaknesses in the package can be heard with the recording of the drums which at times lose their tight edge. The cymbals swimming in a loose fashion sometimes produce an unpleasant hiss. The overall package has much to commend it however, containing some quality tracks delivered with grit and energy.
