Another of those reggae gospel albums that I missed when released in 2005 which 19 years on still sounds pretty good to my ears. In the sleeve Owen writes, "We are truly living in perilous times and the need to meditate on God is more essential than ever. It is time for us to lift up our eyes and worship the Almighty, to take the time to listen to that 'still small voice' that echoes in the deepest regions of our soul." In 2024 Owen's wise words ring even more true and with his thoroughly biblical lyrics, passionate singing and some satisfyingly rootsy riddems put together by producer Mark 'Jah Servant' Giles the music here does indeed encourage you to connect with the living God. Particularly memorable is "Under The Blood" with some delicate BV harmonies from Tanesha Banton, while "My Redeemer Lives" and "Keep It Real" will also keep you dancing as you worship. The tracks were recorded in Trinidad and the vocals in Birmingham, UK and as another demonstration of reggae as an international musical language this is a delight.
