If you fire up this free EP and wonder if that voice and lyrical freshness is familiar, it's because Ozay Moore is Othello, independent artist and part of the epic Lightheaded crew. With a name change signifying a slight change in life direction to build community beyond his own rap game and a signing to Illect Recordings, Ozay still delivers - "Rock Wit Me' being an example. As you'd expect from anything from Illect, the production is on point. With a rolling opening with bounce and a boom bap feel, "Don't Cry" sees Ozay contrast his life with the life others aspire to, concluding "I'd rather be me". In the outstanding "Royalty Rmx", aside from a killer beat and production, there's brilliant diverse delivery from Ozay and Miles Young with a powerful storytelling message. The crossover appeal of the rapper has always been strong with deeply spiritual reflections and this EP demonstrates that further, busying himself with what matters most - being physically present, "but spiritually I'm not of this galaxy, just visiting" ("Head Space"). Expect more - much more - from Ozay on the mic and off the mic.
