Atlanta-based singer/songwriter Pat Barrett's first live release was recorded in the cosy confines of the Georgia capital's 1971 Sounds Studio and succeeds in capturing what sounds like a very intimate and moving time of worship. Barrett is, of course, famous for co-penning the worship smash "Good Good Father" and, whilst nothing on this release sticks in the mind quite like that opinion-dividing number, this is a quality collection of songs that praise Jesus with fluidity, depth and sincerity. Barrett has a great voice and his band ably provide an organic backdrop with weathered upright piano sounds (albeit recreated electronically), acoustic guitars and brushes being the order of the day - all of which creates a real feeling of warmth and charm. Sounding like the audience have been handpicked in correlation to their ability to hold a note, the communal worship feel of this release also adds something special to proceedings whilst Barrett's knack for recognising when a song should or shouldn't lead into a more spontaneous time of praise says everything about the man's skills as a worship leader.
