So the Most Original Christmas Song Of The Year award goes to Nottingham-based singer/songwriter Paul shows again his agile wit and his ability to celebrate British social mores in song. Here it's his "The Bounty And The Snickers" which recasts "The Holly And The Ivy" as a portrayal of families diving into their tins of chocs before all the best ones are snapped up. Elsewhere on Paul's first Christmas EP we have a lilting version of "Joy To The World" which is a good song in anybody's book though, if truth be told, the rudimentary accompaniment makes Paul's version sound more like a demo. The best cut here is "Under Bethlehem Skies" which sounds a bit like Elton John and has a theme/location likely to get some airplay on Cross Rhythms' Radio Hayah.
