I love this album. It is definitely one of those that if you are feeling a tad low, stick 'History' on and it will cheer you right up. It's an eclectic mix of songs, which range from Larry Norman to the more modern style of worship/performance such as the Newsboys. It comes as no surprise then that Australian Paul sites Larry Norman as one of his heroes and actually performed with him, and was also the guitarist for the Newsboys for several years. It is difficult to identify several songs as standout as they are all immensely enjoyable. However, choose I must. The album opens with the Norman-esque "If I Were Jesus", which is an enjoyable sing-along acoustic number that will totally offend those that thought the book The Shack was irreverent. Mind you, the line about Jesus turning water into wine being followed by "Me and the disciples we'll have a real good time" was about has close to the knuckle as you can get (chuckle). The album then lifts into a more electric rock feel with a cover of Delirious?' "History Maker" which I enjoyed but I understand listeners to Rimmerama were distinctly unimpressed by. I found that by the third and fourth tracks "Holding Onto You" and "Turn" I was singing my head off. "Gloria (All God's Children)" is a wonderful exaltation to all Christians to praise and worship God and has a totally uplifting refrain at the end that defies anybody not to sing along. "Sweet Sweet Song Of Salvation" had me finished off with a totally stupid grin stretched right across my face. It is great to find an album that is well written, well produced and has the feeling that everybody involved in making it had a fabulous time and that there was plenty of laughter along the way. I heartily recommend it.
