Best known for the praise chorus classic " Jesus We Enthrone You", Paul's been doing his own thing since then, releasing independent albums and playing at an Irish pub in downtown Minneapolis. Inspired to write a song to commemorate the Olympics in Sydney, he recorded "The Flame" and though turned down by the Olympic Committee ("too slow" they said), it began to take on a life of its own. Marketed through the Internet, and in local churches, the single went on to sell over 2,000 copies with no corporate push and no publicity other than word-of-mouth. It's a stunning song. A stirring, anthemic Celtic ballad, a little like Robin Mark, with a stirring chorus ("Does the torch of faith/Run throughout the land/Let the flame burn bright within you?") he deftly portrays the physical race as a spiritual parable. A marvellous song, this EP is well worth searching out.
