Recorded over two nights at the Underground Theatre in Eastbourne, this is Paul Oakley very much live and acoustic. Augmented by Martin Cooper on another acoustic guitar and a touch of piano, minimal percussion and strings, this is a somewhat courageous diversion from his previous two albums 'Kiss The River' and 'Unashamed' which were, as Paul puts it, recorded with full-on guitars and all guns blazing. Those familiar with his back catalogue will welcome stripped down versions of "Kiss The River" from the album of the same name and "House Of Gold", "I Need You Now" and "Feel Like I Could Fly" from 'When Deep Calls To Deep' plus a generous 12 others. Going acoustic upholds the strength of his songs, together with the quality of his earthy vocals and also presents an opportunity to resource smaller worship groups with fresh material. Paul has succeeded in creating an intimate front room atmosphere and 'Unafraid' gives a suitable snapshot of the two evenings whilst providing a good introduction to the Brighton-based worship leader. Keep an eye on his website and catch him when he's next in town.
