When one considers the fact that People Of The Earth originate from a small town in Somerset, Kentucky, from a team of worshippers who have been steadily releasing independent EPs and albums for four years without gaining a great deal of notice, one may momentarily wonder why Christian music giant Capitol CMG have suddenly stepped into their plans and vision. A single listen to this six-song EP will explain everything. Under the auspices of worship leader Dustin Fenison, People Of The Earth have developed a fresh and invigorating approach to modern worship without for one moment trying to replicate the worship big hitters from Australia and California. Musical influences here seem to take in everything from Toto, Duran Duran and '80s pop, but there's also more than a nod to their Kentucky roots. All this musical eclecticism wouldn't be enough if their songs weren't up to scratch, but here songwriting craft is clearly evident. "Jesus Saves" was written by the band's worship pastor, David Moffitt - a songwriter for Capitol CMG - and worship artist Travis Cottrell and is good enough to circulate the world Church, with the single "Even Louder" being another standout. Dustin Fenison claimed, "The songs are dripping with the hope of a people who live knowing the war has been won and the enemy defeated and who anxiously await the return of our King to set everything right." They certainly stirred my heart.
