Leading worship from the young age of 12, and writing songs from 13, Californian Phil Wickham whilst still a young man here demonstrates to the world Church an incredible wealth of talent. In this, his big-budget record label debut, he not only plays the acoustic and electric guitar, but also the piano as well as a banjo and bariguitar. If Phil's talent ended here this recording would still be a success, however it doesn't; his vocal ability has been compared to Jeff Buckley with the passion of singers such as Bono. As far as the style of the music goes you might suggest a Coldplay or a Chris Tomlin showing here and there but in truth there's much which is exhilaratingly fresh. In the midst of all this talent, it's not the music that made the impact but the lyrics. Having been brought up in a strong Christian as well as musical family, Phil shows us a level of wisdom and understanding that speaks not of religion but of relationship with Jesus, such wisdom doesn't come with age (as he shows) but comes with experience. Reading the lyrics filled me with excitement and a hunger for intimacy with the king of all kings, with songs like "Always Forever" and "Divine Romance" to name just two. My advice to you is to do what you can to listen to this album and (as he encourages) make the words your heart cry too. This could end up being the best worship album of the year.

Product Description
Every few years an artist comes along that reminds you of why we love music. Phil Wickham is one of those artists.
With amazing lyrical integrity, compelling artistic expressions and an intimate cry to God through his unique voice, Phil Wickham combines a west coast ethic that channels the pop sensibilities of Coldplay and Keane with the emotive lyrics of singer songwriters like John Meyer. This appealling blend of driving up-tempo pop rock along with intimate worshipful moments broadcasts a rare gem that shines in all facets.
'Phil Wickham is a rare artist that is way beyond his years. I’ve never read such poetry, never heard such a voice and never felt this much heart being put into music. This guy is incredible.' Bart Millard of MercyMe
