Phyllis Caddell-M is an experienced, successful publicist who has done a huge amount of work in the gospel market. One day she got tired of people calling her for advice who would pump her for info but not want to hire her so she decided to put everything down in a book. This is subtitled For Those Too Cheap Or Too Broke To Hire A Publicist. Basically, if you're a grassroots Christian music artist or band and you want to learn how to do your own publicity, get this. It gives you the basics of how to pitch your stuff to the media including putting together press kits, write press releases, bios and all that other good stuff. It explains what a publicist does and after you read it, you may realise that you really need an expert or perhaps you're bold enough (or broke enough) to do it yourself. Either way, track this paperback down on Amazon if you're an independent artist as it's required reading. The only drawback is that some of the examples are for the American market. But the basic principles are the same and a press release is a press release whatever country you live in!
