When this series made its rather inauspicious start onto the CD racks some years back it seemed the limp productions/arrangements were almost as unimaginitive as the band name. But gradually down the years the standards have improved and with session-seasoned husband and wife Paul and Rita Baloche handling some of the leads and snappy guitar, keys, bass and drums arrangements the feel is upbeat contemporary without ever really being "alternative" worship (whatever that means today). 'Praise Band 9' has some excellent songs, with Chris Falson's "Let All The World Sing Praises", David Ruis' "You're Worthy Of My Praise" and Rob Mathes' "If The Lord Had Not Been On Our Side" all catch the ear. If you're looking for well produced worship music a little more contemporary in feel than the now decidedly MOR 'Praise' Maranatha! series, this could be for you.
