It isn't uncommon these days to hear instrumental worship music of the 'Praise Him On The. . .' variety where worship songs are given a pretty backing. Well, here's where that whole thing started. The charismatic movement of the '70s had thrown up the beginnings of a fertile seam of worship writing and in the early days the Maranatha label in California seemed to be the place to be. This second album in the series was released in 1978, helmed by former Love Song member Tommy Coomes and featured light orchestral versions of popular worship songs of the day. Like all the albums of this style to follow, the orchestrations are pretty syrupy and I guess it's designed more as an aid to devotionals or as something to play in the background to relax the listener. Certainly the series was popular at the time!
