Must admit to leaving these to last in my review parcel. Rough copy tapes are always distinctly uninviting, as reviewers need to consider the finished article. Also, the promo hype was so off-putting I wondered if Marc Catley was hovering near. Apparently, these recordings will be in the shops ere long, in all formats. So, to the music. I think I'll tell the truth. When I played 'Cry Freedom' the first thought in my mind was that it sounded like an old Goon Show recording. Improvement comes but the music's still washed out, no trace of the fire integral to this genre.
