In recent interviews, Project 86 frontman Andrew Schwaab has commented that 'Songs To Burn Your Bridges By' is something of a reaction after previous album 'Truthless Heroes' saw the band criticised by fans and media alike for the dark nature of the material. Having also been dropped by Tooth & Nail (only to be re-signed once more) recent times appear not to have been kind to the band. What we get here though is a blistering return to form, both musically, with grooves so strong you could build a house on them, and lyrically, with Schwaab's impassioned, imploring screams to the fore. Much more melodic than I remember them being previously, but beautifully, undeniably heavy at the same time, songs such as "Oblivion" and "A Text Message To The So-Called Emperor" pack a punch which cannot be ignored. A fine example of the hard rock art, and with enough spiritual yearning and passion to satisfy the soul as well as the ears.
