Initial fears of cheese about an instrumental worship album were influenced by adverts persuading me that to bring me peace, all I would need was an album of rock classics from the '70s played on the panpipes. Those fears however were soon dispelled as I listened to the immense skill and sensitivity that oboist Janine Close brought to the latest in this instrumental series from Kingsway Music. Among this collection are songs by Matt Redman, Delirious?, Phatfish and Graham Kendrick to name just four. Musically it is proficient although many may not appreciate the drum programming. However, it aims to relax and bring the listener to a place of intimacy with God and as the inlay cover contains the lyrics the message of the songs come through too.
