With White Heart's Billy Smiley again producing Rachel Rachel maybe it's not too surprising that the band have so many AOR similarities to their all male counterparts. Being an all-girl (sorry about the gruesome descriptive tag) rock band has brought Rachel Rachel a great deal of US media attention but his album is far from being the pop-rock wimp out some expected - Heli Sterner's crunchy guitar sound ensures the album stops only just short of hard rock while drummer Sparky propels the faster rockers with unerring drive. It's Cheryl Jewel who sings most of the leads and writes most of the songs and pretty good they are too. Catch "You Are Always There" fit's hard to see that pain has a purpose/When you're imprisoned by the walls of this life"). I personally think it was a mistake bring in Dann Huff to solo on "In Your Arms". However hot his axe work is (and it IS hot) Heli Sterner lets go with enough torrid solos to show the band have the chops to play all their music without the help of seasoned sessioners. But all in all this is an excellent pop rock album.
