Here's an independent band with a 70s influence clearly bleeding through at different points. Combining elements of pop rock, AOR and even a little disco thrown in here and there, this deliberately retro album has its tasty moments. Rad4DAD remind me a little of early Prince with its fusion of funk and rock. There are some strong moments here with "Peer Pressure", an all out attack on conformity whilst "Nightclub Suicide" is a funky little number. The band aren't scared to lay their lyrical hearts on their collective sleeve and challenge issues and share their faith and at the same time have a little fun. As the "kings of coolitude" the funk rock fusion of "Cool For Christ" is a straight ahead no nonsense song and "Don't Sing The Blues No More" is uncompromising testimony set to a slow blues that really works! Retro but with enough originality to bring a smile to my face, rad4DAD deserve your attention.
