Not to be confused with British metal team Ransom Decreed, this band like Ransom Decreed, are led by bluesy-voiced lass. American ransom have improved considerably on their rather tepid debut album and might well attract purchasers both from the kind of Christian metal devotee who'll be flocking to Metal Meltdown this year and the fan of the heavier end of rock bored by so many AOR teams wimping out. Ran­som's female lead is strong in the Wendy Kaiser mould, there are two or three strong numbers like the extremely hard-hitting "Exit (Euthanasia)" and the opening. All in all an album which I genuinely expected little of is still on my decks two months on
