The songs on this tape were developed for the third world charity Christmas Cracker. Side one has five tracks ranging from celebrating life and creation to songs about AIDS, poverty and dying, but all proclaiming that "at the heart of suffering is the tangible presence of God." Side two is designed to raise awareness of the issues dealt with by the songs and contains information and real life stories. The songs are imaginative and powerful, both musically and lyrically (similar in feel to Peter Gabriel's 'So' album if you want a comparison). My favourite is the title track with its dance beat and African feel to the vocal. For a home produced album, the quality is excellent and my only reservation is the idea of having music on one side and documentary (which will not bear repeated listening) on the other. Even if you don't buy a copy yourself, why not persuade a youth leader to buy a copy (or two!) and pass it round the youth group, or use it as the basis for a service looking at these issues.
