Reviewed by Tony Cummings With this gem of an album resting at number one in the UK Christian & Gospel Chart and likely to stay there for months, it's time for Cross Rhythms to add its plaudits for what is undoubtedly the band's best album so far. One American reviewer suggested "the songs exude such a titanic force both in their spiritual and vocal intensities they can topple any scaffold of doubt and fear" and I wouldn't disagree. The same reviewer then went on to suggest that lead singer Chris Llewellyn's vocals were "a tad draining" yet for me his powerful Celtic passion is a particular draw now that the band have added some intense ballads like "Yahweh" and "Weep For Me" to their repertoire. But fear not. There are plenty of manic romps as well: "I Will Be Undignified" is a foot-stomping celebration delivered at lightning pace complete with a delightful fiddle solo while "Counting Your Blessings" is surely one of their most infectious songs yet as it delivers an important message to focus on the myriad of God's provisions. Possibly my favourites are "Rescuer" which another American reviewer called "a fantastic pub song for the redeemed, drinking from the well of life," and "No Outsiders", which, with its bold confrontation, is a song I'd like to play to every Daily Mail reader with the xenophobia and prejudice which are enveloping our world. This family of gospel-espousing road dogs, while leaving room for a song of lamentation or two, have pinpointed just how good the good news of the Gospel is. Many in the world Church will be grateful to them for that.

Good News is the album where Rend Collective have tried to be as Rend Collective-y as possible. In the past we've been insecure and sometimes let that insecurity stop us from fully being ourselves and worse - from fully expressing the unique (weird?) identity God has given us.
But Good News is our unfettered, uncaged, unapologetic announcement of old fashioned, transforming, earth shattering gospel. We celebrate loud, we lament openly and we sing simple truth like we mean it.
This record was hard-fought - we held nothing back and laid our vulnerable selves out on the altar of each and every track. Thanks so much for inspiring us and cheering us on - we love you! (And we hope you agree with us that this our best yet!)’ Rend Collective Hailing from a small town off the coast of Northern Ireland, Rend Collective (Gareth Gilkeson, Chris Llewellyn, Ali Gilkeson, Patrick Thompson and Stephen Mitchell) wants to be known as a celebration band, worshiping for God’s Glory and fame. Since the release of their first album, Organic Family Hymnal, the group’s authentic and energetic style of worship has attracted an international audience.
