It's not often that a Brit comes along and catches your attention so much that you start ringing the Christian recording industry in order to make sure that they know him. But such is the case with Scotland's Richard Reid. His blend of rich (sorry about the pun) Scottish accent, soft gentle vocals and beautifully composed, and for that matter, arranged material (bearing in mind this is a private recording) is almost touching Ron David Moore territory (one of last year's best). There are two out-and-out classics on here, well worthy of at least Various Artists album attention in the very near future. They are "Calvary" and "Can't Make It". Richard's been involved for a few years now, having produced three other tapes, which I hadn't heard up until this point. I'll certainly be listening to them now. This is the first time he's released a CD and deserves much airplay. Elsewhere there are six other tracks and the only ones that don't quite hit the right spot for me are when he tries to get a little more upbeat. His style fits neatly into the Christopher Cross/Mark Knopffler area. You're bound to hear more of Richard, and he would do well Stateside too. Sign him somebody.
