River Valley Worship is a collection of singers, musicians and songwriters who are an extension of River Valley Church in Minneapolis. This EP, released last year, "deconstructs" some of the songs originally on their album 'Million Lifetimes'. The opener "Cross And The Crown" is a powerful reflection of what Jesus did on the cross; "All This Time" reminds us that though we are often unable to see where God is while in the valleys, he never leaves our side; and "Hope Has A name" has a heartbeat-like bass line which works well as the lyrics proclaim that Jesus can bring victory from fear and pain. There is also a Christmas song, "Adore You", drawing a picture of shepherds gathering to celebrate the Saviour of the world. These stripped down arrangements work well and give the EP a freshness which will appeal to those looking for music for their quiet time at home.
