Recorded at FFG's studios in Gloucestershire, "Empathy" is a collection of Rob Fulton's songs and what an unusual mix it is. At best you get a bit of a sinister dark groove on "Watch Out" with its warnings against the Devil's work (which lyrically bears a likening to Larry Norman's "Watch What You're Doing) and the straight ahead rock and effective tinny organ of "Adult Games". But there is quite a bit which seems caught in a time warp and sounds too ordinary to make impact. Songs like "1000 Miles From Home", "Happy People", "Who's That Man?" and "The Seed" all sound like Christian music circa 1980. Even "Shadowlands", inspired by C S Lewis, is attempting to be moody but fails to connect. Whilst Rob writes decent songs, his singing occasionally falls flat and sadly this album sounds very dated and lacklustre and fails to really connect.

saxaphone solos are the best :)
