Rob Russell is the brother of John Russell (remember After The Fire?) and was the keyboard player with secular rockabilly band Whirlwind. Not that there's a hint of the Sun Sound here. This 6-song tape is contemporary pop rock. The sleevenotes tell you that you have to be ready to be challenged to listen to this tape. A statement like this could so easily leave its author open to criticism. The tape consists of six tracks filled with heartfelt lyrics which are sung with enthusiasm in a rough and ready manner. Many of the songs relate to discovering and then accepting Jesus into your life ("There's A Fire", "72", etc). Others relate to the need for care in and love for the world for which we have responsibility. The tape would have benefited from more professional recording and production. Still, this provides an adequate introduction to a promising singer/songwriter.
