You can hardly fail to notice the proliferation of worship tapes emanating from churches across Britain these days. Those involved would see God's hand at work. The pragmatist would put it down to the way modern technology enables musicians and singers to produce their own recordings and to desktop publish professional looking cassette inlays in a way undreamed of a decade ago. Perhaps both points of view are true. One thing is certain - no longer is worship music in the remit of just one record company and a handful of worship leaders. This album is one of the new wave that precedes the soon-coming flood from church-based signer/songwriters. Rob Sutton leads Rhyme And Reason, a worship band from Bethel Community Church in Eastbourne and he has come up with a fine selection of songs ranging from a rocked up version of "Power In The Blood" through the jive of "Shout For Joy And Sing" to the peaceful "To My God I'll Sing Praises". Gems like "I Will Put My Trust In The Lord" sound like they have already been on the Spring Harvest songsheet a year or so. The songs have that sort of hallmark all over them. Herein is a writer whose work we could all be singing in a few years from now.
