The incredibly talented pedal steel guitarist from New Jersey returns with an album that truly covers several genres at once. Blues, funk, soul and gospel are all here. The wonderful thing about any form of blues music is the freedom and honesty it has within a live setting - and this album is certainly no different. Together with his multi-talented Family Band, Robert presents a soaring collection of upbeat, powerful blues tunes. At an hour and six minutes running time, this album allows for a continuous release of instrumental and vocal funk, which together with the dazzling guitar work, this album is one that will be returned to again and again. The soulful vocals are excellent too, especially on the cover of the Staples' "I'll Take You There". A highlight within this set is the beautiful vocals of Susan Tedeschi (married to the equally awesome slide guitarist, Derek Trucks) and the surprise comes in the blistering version of Hendrix's "Purple Haze". This glorious collection of live blues funk is something to be played loud and often.
