 In a very long and distinguished career in western music/movies, TV and who in the last 20 to 30 years of his life recorded a variety of country and gospel albums, this 20 track CD brings together two LPs Roy recorded for Word. They have been re-mastered but track seven 'Lord Have Mercy On My Soul' hasn't transferred well to CD. They include a variety of old time gospel classics such as 'I'll Fly Away','Whispering Hope', 'Softly And Tenderly',etc, together with some newer tracks, like the BJ Thomas song 'Home Where I Belong' and the big, big hit for Ferlin Husky 'Wings Of A Dove'. To be honest, you could not say that Roy's versions are that special. He would have been in his 60s and 70s when most of these tracks were recorded, so it has to be said his voice had lost some of its edge. However, as there is a dearth of recorded material currently available in Britain of this devout man of God, you might like to add this to your collection.
