Sounds Of Salvation, the current UK torch-bearers for the eternal flame of Christian ska, have a similar nutty sense of humour to Five Iron Frenzy's, and a live show renowned for endless good vibes. This single is a straight-up ska worship party jam, and when I say straight-up, I mean VERY straightforward and earnest. That's not a judgment call, but it does describe whether you'll like this track - if you feel enthusiasm, passion, an earworm of a chorus and the Power of Ska can overshadow weak songwriting and slightly cringey half-rapped verses with predictable rhymes, you will enjoy "Worship You"! The song explores the idea of worship through everyday life (Colossians 3:23): "My God, [. . .] everything I do - wanna do it well and I wanna do it for you/Could that be an act of worship too?/If I do it well, is that pleasing to you?" It's a sentiment I don't hear often enough in modern worship music, and I'm pleased to hear it expressed here. The B-side's an acoustic rendition of another original song, "Over All", with a trumpet part faintly reminiscent of mariachi. The lyrics are a mixed bag, but at least they try to be grounded in more solid theology than a lot of modern worship songs.
