With over 30 years of experience, the Salem-based metal band show no signs of resting having released at least one album every two years since 2003. This latest recording, however, is a milestone, being the first not to feature their long standing vocalist Josh Kramer, to whom the band's sound was closely linked. The arrival of Brian Millar to fill his shoes has provided a certain amount of energy to this pioneering outfit. Although the metallic guitars continue to grind in an unmistakable juggernaut fashion, Brian's vocals are closer to a power metal style which lifts the overall tone. Twin guitars trade intricate leads with some style on the opening title track, whilst "We All Stand" has a more traditional Saint feel with its trademark bassy riffs. In my opinion, "We Will Fight" provides the most memorable melody and sing-along chorus, all underpinned by some gravelly backing vocals. The mix is well balanced with a tight drum sound and no one instrument dominating. Although not perfect in every area (the closing instrumental seems very short and the quieter "Never Same" a little thin), this is one of Saint's most promising releases of recent years.
