A second EP from quirky American singer songwriter Sally Anthony is most welcome. I raved about the first one identifying Sally as a real talent in development and everything about 'The Preview' suggests she has the talent to be huge. If you think Rebecca St James lacks edge and Jaci Velasquez sends you to sleep and you want a female singer in a Tori Amos, Christine Glass mode then she's worth checking out. Energised and passionate on "I Know You" and "Never Here", yet capable of the moving delicacy of "Fleeting" where accompanied only by solo piano, this second helping of her music only makes me yearn for a full album. The tight punchy "Martyr" is deliberately the most commercial thing she's ever released but it's still uncompromisingly Sally and in Christian music, there isn't much else as brave or interesting as this. Sally Anthony is a bit of an enigma, ploughing her own creative furrow and not worrying what people may think! If you're looking for a musical highway that takes the scenic route away from the obvious blandness of so much Nashville CCM, take a trip with Sally!
