This captivating single shows just why British-Nigerian Samm got signed to Columbia Records in the first place. And this witty and elevating song, no doubt built on the life experience of a mother insisting that her son stops his bedroom mirror fantasies and rushes off to church, gets better every time you hear it. The need to get a spiritual infusion is propelled by a hand-clapping gospel choir and Earthgang add a little bit of rapping which might raise a few theological eyebrows (recognise the value of prayer but don't worry too much who the prayers are directed at) and works brilliantly. The big budget video is a gem, too, showing Samm propelled along the streets of South London on a cotton wool cloud. Brilliant video, brilliant song and a brilliant example that the British Church can make some of the best music you'll hear and see anywhere.
