During a career which has spanned well over 20 years the queen of America's inspirational music Sandi Patty has won over 30 Dove Awards, recorded eight gold or platinum albums and sold 11 million albums with her debut release alone. As you might expect with that sort of record you don't have many problems getting the very best in the business to do a duet with you. And this CD (as the title might suggest) brings together many of the duets that Sandy has recorded over the years with artists as diverse and popular as Amy Grant, Deniece Williams, Michael W Smith, Peabo Bryson and Larnelle Harris to name but a few. Despite her fall from grace in the early '90s Sandi continues to be seen in the US as being as American as apple pie though I think this collection of mainly ballads may be too schmaltzy in places for a UK audience. I'm sure also that on both sides of the Atlantic there will be people who think that one or two of the songs here simply haven't stood the test of time too well while the arrangements are sometimes hugely overblown. Faults aside though class shows and the lady's theatric emoting can certainly drag the meaning from these songs of Christian adoration.
