Sara is now regarded as one of Christendom's greatest songwriting talents and down the years has drawn comparisons with artists such as Sarah Mclaughlin and Cindy Morgan. This album shows Sara's uncanny knack for digging deep into the human experience and touching a raw nerve while her haunting melodies stay with the listener. She explores topics such as watching the wicked prosper while the righteous suffer ("Open My Hands") and the moral implications of our many advances in technology in "Scientists In Japan" which is one of the highlights of the album. "Eyes On The Prize", which has been covered by Bruce Springsteen in the past, is another highlight with its black gospel intro. Sara explores the wonder of God's love on "Mystery" and probes the problem of people wearing masks on "Obsolete". The production is stripped back but is ably handled by Steve Hindalong (The Choir, Sixpence None The Richer). 'Invisible Empires' didn't instantly hit me and took time to grow but the more you listen to these finely crafted songs the better they become.
