'Invisible Empires' was Sarah's 10th studio album and was reviewed by Cross Rhythms back in 2011. The album presented the singer in fine form, both in vocal style (comparisons with Cindy Morgan can be made) and her immense songwriting talent, demonstrated in the beautiful opener "Miracle", urging us to "lay down our arms" and the engaging "Eyes On The Prize" with its black gospel start. This new edition includes two bonus tracks taken from the new album 'Floodplain' (one is a remix). "I've Been Here Before" is an honest song reflecting on human failings but the "hand of grace reaches down to me." The remix here of the 'Floodplain' title track is a very atmospheric rendition (unlike the original piano-based version), which would sit happily on Emmylou Harris' 'Wrecking Ball' album! Although its aim appears on the surface, to promote the new album with its additional tracks, the package demonstrates what an immense talent Sarah is.
