Compiled from 15 years of music making and containing an additional four original songs, the two CD 'The Collection' shows deft musical craft and surprising variety from the Minnesota-born singer/songwriter. The music stretches from the funkier feel of "How Is It Between Us" through to the more reflective sounding "Why It Matters". At the heart of all Sara's songs is a sense of the journey and is intended to offer a look-back, inspired by a map Sara drew of her life so far upon turning 40. "Strangely Ready", one of the new tracks, has an interesting musical arrangement, using strings and voice alone for the first section, with the drums kicking in in the chorus. Down the years Sara has shown herself to be one of the most thought provoking and lucid songwriters and her gift of imagery, her appealing voice and the sensitive arrangements presented her make this a fine celebration of an exceptional talent.
