Dance music, like few other music forms, dates very quickly. Today's cutting edge quickly becomes risable cheese at least in the perspective of the dancefloor cognoscente. So it's pretty impressive that tracks featured here plucked from albums ranging from 1992's 'Walk On The Wild Side' to 1994's 'The Real Thing" still have a rhythmic freshness to them. Standouts are Scott's dance reworking of "Oh Happy Day" pulled from that great 'A Myx'd Trip To Gospel House' and the mix master's glorious version of Jon Gibson's "Jesus Loves Ya" with all it's compelling Hammond organ groove, making it fresh enough to make today's Cross Rhythms playlist. Another cut which will undoubtedly attract punters is the "My King" classic from 'Walk On The Wild Side' with that stunning preaching from Dr Lockridge. All in all, this collection of oldies clearly demonstrates Scott Blackwell deserves his reputation as the founding father of sanctified dance.
