When reviewed in 2003 on its original release, our reviewer rather missed the mark, critiquing the album for being AOR which of course it is. In fact, this US band delivered a gem with this set and the tracks "I Know" and "When The Children Cry" have been much played on Cross Rhythms radio. If you missed it the first time around, get this re-issue. The opener, "I Know" comes out of my speakers with a mixture of acoustic and lead guitar, gritty and atmospheric, then slips into picked clean guitar and then the vocals come in. What a voice! I loved this album from the get-to. For me to get into an album from the opening bars is quite rare and something that never fails to thrill me. There is real character here, seasoned and deep. From intimate songs like "Candy" and "My Struggle" to more gritty songs like "Running Away", this album really delivers what CCM should be: progressive, evolving and as good (if not better) than its secular counterparts. This is not always the case with bands aping what's hip and groovy in the charts. This cannot be said of this sensational band who appear to have carved out a niche for themselves with original songs and a sound that is truly their own.
