Shoa were a trio of Rory Thompson (guitar/vocals). Sarah Thompson (vocals) and Paul Meadows (bass) from Solihull who created ethereal acoustic music with strong songwriting and gorgeous harmonies. Produced at the Rain Studios in the West Midlands, the group's sound is augmented on some tracks with drum tracks which work most effectively on the prophetic urgency of "Sleeping Soldiers". At the other extreme, there's the simply beautiful "Cello Song". This seven track CD has served them well as an introduction to their talents. Now with a name change to Portland, they are soon to release a debut album whilst maintaining the essence of what makes them such a great outfit.
