What a surprise. Approaching an album "created for mime/drama" I expected an album with little appeal to a non-thespian like me. Instead I was gripped from beginning to end. Simeon Wood is of course well known as half of Simeon And John, the duo who've successfully taken classically-orientated meditative music around Britain's churches. Dave Hopwood is a highly respected Christian mime artist, teacher and performer. Here Simeon plays flute, panpipes, harmonica and particular synths to accompany a set of narratives written by Dave which work, even away from the performing stage, very well. Beautifully spoken by I assume professional actors they bring insights, worship and even a hint of humour into the mysterious ways of God. Only when Simeon And Dave attempt a rap does the effect falter. Apart from that aberration, a fine little album which will bless all those who investigate.
