It's a double-edged sword when a band end at their peak. On the one hand you don't have to endure the disappointing follow-up to their opus magnus; on the other hand it makes you wonder if their peak was still to come. Either way, the fact of the matter is this band of emo rockers from High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire have called it a day and this farewell album will take a lot of beating. Musically they really grew with each release and the production values demonstrated here followed suit. Lyrically they remain as poetically blatant as ever. The album utilises all of the best elements that emo has to offer, ranging from heartfelt and touching acoustic moments to full blown screamo intensity. Even to someone who might turn their nose up to this bunch of "scenesters" they've surely gotta realise that these kids mean every ounce of emotion that this genre ably lends itself too. After all if there's one thing that is worth getting worked up about it's the ultimate sacrifice! 'The Day Is Near' is a pertinent and powerful message presented in a way that gets past the barriers that we all so easily put up. And make sure you check out the album's (and the band's) outro - lyrically, musically, spiritually awesome.
