A mystery. Why is it when Sammy Horner makes an album for kids featuring a knee-slapping country hoedown band I'm reaching for the superlatives but when the American kids assembled by Integrity Music for this new series try it I'm reaching for the sick bag? Arrangements here aren't always full of furious banjo picking and whining pedal steeles, on "Arise And Sing" there's a tuba and an umpa-umpa rhythm while "Sing A Song Of Praise" tries a mock Carribean groove. At least throughout its real instruments and never plummets the cheapo cheapo programming depths of Benson's Kids Classics series. But all the efforts of the experienced musos assembled by producer Don Moen are wasted by the chorus of bored-sounding sweet-voiced kiddies and a concept (singalong versions of well known kids' songs) which is tired, tired, tired.
