Light the touchpaper and stand well clear is about all I can say about this one! It's liable to rock you all around the walls of your listening room. This South African songstress draws on the dazzling rhythms of Africa's traditional music, adding contemporary embellishment with supreme skill. The opener "Glory Glory" wades in with a high energy pulse, while "Mangiyenze" ("Let Me Do It, Let Me Worship The Lord") has a mellow, up to date, almost pop-flavoured sound. "Joy" has a semi-rap segment, while "Isindiso" ("Being Blessed") jigs merrily along with some great harmony singing, the sort it seems that only these people can manage. Sister Blaze is one of South Africa's most popular gospel exponents, this CD shows why. Clear, flowing voice, warm personality even on a recording, obviously able to coax that extra burst of energy from the supporting cast. Pop into your local and twist their arm, they can get it if you nag.
