Memphis rock band Skillet unplug their guitars and treat their fans to an acoustic mini-concert. In front of a tiny audience, mostly teenage girls by the looks of things, Skillet perform four songs from their 'Alien Youth' album. The "acoustic" term is applied loosely, as the band still rely quite heavily on a lot of electronic effects. When they do leave the keyboards and play the grand piano for "You Are My Hope", you wonder why they didn't use it all along. As for the harder songs, they just feel stripped of their power. In fact, much of what makes Skillet special is lost in going acoustic and they are not helped by the surprisingly poor sound quality that doesn't make the most of its DVD format. Fans will appreciate this alternative take on some of their favourite songs, but this is not a good place for the uninitiated to start.
