Surely one of the most painful things a Christian young man or woman can experience is to find themselves falling in love with someone who isn't a believer when despite all the prayers the realisation dawns that the relationship must end. Sophia's "Reach You" superbly explores this theme ("I wish I could find a way to reach you/But I know I gotta let go"). The track evokes Massive Attack's "Teardrop" and is a dramatic, gothic sketch which could be addressing God, a child, or the subject of romantic intention. But I know which of these comes across most strongly. With such a powerful voice with its hints of Tori Amos and a top rate production from George Shilling (Primal Scream, Blur), "Reach You" could be a huge hit on mainstream radio if it got the play. Elsewhere, the Leistershire-born vicar's granddaughter also impresses on "Mountainside" which contemplates emotional danger and has a Sinead O'Connor-esque vocal while "Yesterday" (not THAT song) is dark, honest and real.
