The Soul Survivor youth based festival announced recently that it is closing its doors after 27 years. Each year, a recording featuring the songs sung at the event is released. This Jonny Bird produced collection from 2018 features worship leaders Tom Smith and Beth Croft alongside guests. It is the guests, however, that give the collection the edge over similar releases where you "had to be there" to appreciate them. Rend Collective feature with "Rescuer", containing great congregation participation - it is very difficult not to join in! The stirring "Cast Your Cares" featuring Guvna B alongside Tom Smith is worth the price of admission alone with its emotional encouragement to pass your burdens onto God. Otherwise, there are passionate re-workings of songs from the likes of Bethel and Hillsong but little that stands out to these ears.

Soul Survivor is a youth organisation based in the UK which oversees a number of Christian festivals for young people, including annual events in several countries around the world. The first Soul Survivor youth conference took place in 1993, led by youth worker Mike Pilavachi and one of his church youth, 15-year-old Matt Redman, who regularly led the worship at the event. In addition to Matt Redman, this movement has birthed worship leaders Tim Hughes, Ben Cantelon, and Beth Croft. It is currently fronted by Tom Smith. Each year, Soul Survivor releases a recording of the live worship that was experienced during their summer festivals. The heartbeat of this UK based charity is to introduce young people to Jesus and equip, encourage and empower them to live their whole lives for Him.
