This limited edition EP is designed to introduce you to this new West Country band. Soulcry have found their way into the Ultimate Showcase final and by the time you read this, they could be heading to Alton Towers to open up The Ultimate Event. You get four songs from guitar vocalist TJ, bassist Jase and drummer Papa C and this trio certainly manage to impress with this debut. Musically this is rock of a similar standard to Glo, Radiate, Replenish and similar acts. There are plenty of interesting musical ideas so songs like "6/8 Tune" and "Count Me In" have their explosive moments. The band have a solid rhythm section and one highlight is TJ's blistering guitar solos. Soulcry's one weak spot is TJ's singing which sounds flat here and there, particularly on the title cut. Or is it my ears? With CD being given away free though, this is still worth picking up.
