With so many mega church worship bands recording albums a la Hillsong and Jesus Culture, it is difficult for any church-driven release to locate a musical style which stands out as truly distinctive. However, this album emanating from Mision Carismatica Interncional (MCI) in Bogota, manages this wonderfully though it has to be said that bringing in such talented guests as Kim Walker-Smith, TobyMac and Martin Smith helps hugely. Lorena Castellanos, the daughter of the church's pastors, brings to life a number of the songs with her breathy, distinctive vocals. The title track is an electric guitar-driven invitation to lift Jesus high and allow God to invade us by his Spirit, Kim Walker-Smith featuring in the chorus. The Martin Smith-inspired "Count The Stars" is a beautifully melodic ballad while the highlight of the project is undoubtedly "We Sing", an unexpectedly simple electro-pop dance anthem declaring God's great love for this generation. This is an inspired, stand-out and finely produced set of worship songs which captures the passion and spirit of what God is doing in the church in Columbia. A second, third and fourth listen only serves to underline the musical invention, lyrical passion and emotional resonance of a fine set of songs.
